This christening cake was created for Scarlett. Her parents asked for "anything simple, pink and girly with a cross on and 24 cupcakes" which allowed me to be creative.
As I was thinking about what to put on the top of the cake I came across a lovely supplier online who makes toppers for all occasions and personalises them for you. They are super good quality and this particular one looked excellent on the cake. I was super excited to insert into the cake and make it come alive.
After I purchased the topper I began to think about all things girly, which led me to fills. I particularly loved the frill with an ombre affect but I had never used this technique before, so I gave it a whirl around the top of the cake first. Once satisfied I did the same technique around the bottom of the cake, creating almost like a frilly skirt effect. This is definitely an area I would love to advance in.
You may also notice from the above picture that there is a bit of bling - well what princess cake doesnt have a bit of glitter and glammer. Overall I was quite happy with the way that the cake and cupcakes turned out and hope that they made Scralett happy on her special day.
I was also asked for 24 cupcakes - here is the design I came up with.
